TPACK

TPACK stand for the technological, pedagogical, content knowledge is theoretical construct of teacher knowledge that describes how teacher teach subject matter. In the era of science and technology uses of technology in every sector facility the increase efficiency including into teaching and learning too. Technologies have changed the way of thinking about teaching and learning process. Technology is the most effective tool for teacher in teaching and for student in learning. Proper use of technology can deliver content in many and easy way so teacher have huge role in selecting technology tool and to integrate these tool in teaching and learning process. That’s why integrate technological methods should be adopted and TPACK is one. In TPACK there are seven kinds of knowledge, they are technological knowledge (TK), pedagogical knowledge (PK), content knowledge (CK), technological content knowledge (TCK), pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), technological pedagogical knowledge (TPK), technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK).

TPACK helps to understand how particular topic, problem or issue are organize, presented and adopted to the diverse interest and ability of learning by giving the idea, illustration, explanation, analogies, example and demonstrations. Pedagogical  content knowledge helps to understand what makes the learning of specific topics easy or difficult, the conception and preconceptions that students of different ages and back ground bring with them to the learning of those most frequently topic lesson.

“TPACK (technological pedagogical content knowledge) has emerged as a clear and useful construct for researchers working to understand technology integration in learning and teaching. Whereas first generation TPACK work focused upon explaining and interpreting the construct, TPACK has now entered a second generation where the focus is upon using the construct in both research and development projects. In this paper, the TPACK construct is defined and several current research and development projects that use the TPACK framework are described. The strength of the TPACK framework in research and evaluation work in technology integration is discussed, along with future directions for this work.”( Baran E., Chuang H. & Thompson A., 2011 p-370)

Technological pedagogical knowledge understand how technology can outline the way of teaching whereas pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) is define as the relationship between the content delivering and allied pedagogical with that topic of particular subject. Pedagogical content knowledge represents the merger of content and pedagogy for teaching also identifies the characteristic of knowledge for teaching, to conceptualize how particular topic, problems or issues are organize, represent and adopted to the interest and presented for instruction.

TPACK support teacher’s professional development supporting teacher become professional by uplifting their skills. In order to upgrade their skills teacher must keep going on with TPACK to meet increasing educational requirement for long time commitment, TPACK is not only for teachers but technology and ICT are integrate in teaching and learning for  educator and for students too. TPACK gives the concept for integrating technological use/ technologic knowledge, content knowledge in proper pedagogical knowledge.

TPACK is an extension of the PCK, defined as a organized method to connection practical capability in coaching with pedagogical content knowledge. TPACK is an developing model ensuing from the joining of technology, pedagogy and content. This model considers the context as an important aspect. Teaching practices are very important as a source of learning and not just as a consequence of applying a set of learning theories. The TPACK framework offers many visions into how technology should relate to other components of education  in order  to be  successful.

Need of flipping classroom

Why we should flip our classroom?

Flipping helps busy students: Now days students are much more busy. They are doing more then one course and are over programmed.  Here in flipping class content is delivered via various medium. It is flexible which helps student to be in teachers instructions.

Flipping helps struggling students: in traditional methods of teaching teacher and topper students are active and struggling students are passive but in flipping class all students are equally active and teacher is roaming around every student helping them

Flipping helps students of all abilities to excel: all the straight instructions are recorded; student who needs helps can watch the videos many times until they learn the material. No more tension of copying down notes with the hope that they’ll understand them later. Instead, students can pause their teacher, rewind their teacher, and make sure they actually learn the important concepts.

Flipping increases student  - student –teacher interaction: flipping allows teachers to influence technology to increase interaction with students. Teachers play a vital role in the lives of their students. They are mentors, friends, neighbors, and experts. Having face-to-face interaction with teachers is an invaluable experience for students.

flipping allows teachers to influence technology to increase interaction with students: Flipping the classroom creates an ideal merger of online and face-to-face instruction that is becoming known as a “blended” classroom. Teachers  conduct mini lectures with groups of students who are struggling with the same content. The beauty of these mini lectures is we are delivering just-in-time instruction when the students are ready for learning.

Flipping allows teachers to know their students better: Teachers are not only to teach content, but also to inspire, to encourage, to listen, and to provide a vision for our students. Good teacher builds relationships with students. Students need positive adult role models in their lives and teacher can be a role models. flipping allows us to build better relationships with our students. This is due to the increased teacher–student interaction.

Flipping allows for real differentiation:  Course may be hard for many students and learning doesn’t come easily for all, so for those students who struggle, only key understanding is expected. For these students, we often modify their work on the fly by asking them to complete only key problems instead of all of them. This way our students who struggle will learn the essential objectives and not get bogged down with some of the more advanced topics that may just confuse them

Flipping changes classroom management: There are students who consistently did not pay attention in class. These students were frequently creating a distraction to the rest of the class and negatively affected everybody else’s learning. Flipping the classroom discovered something amazing. Because we were not just standing and talking at kids, many of the classroom management problems evaporated. Because class time is mostly used for students to either do activities or group work those students who were typically a distraction become a nonissue.

Flipping changes the way we talk to parents: Parents would often ask us how their child behaved in class like “Does my child sit quietly, act respectfully, raise his or her hand, and not disturb other students?” does s/he learning?? Flipping class helps to answer these questions.

Flipping educates parents: many materials are provided to students when parents take interest in helping their kids it helps to educate parents.

Flipping makes your class transparent: videos are posted on the Internet, and students’ parents and others have free access to them. Instead of wondering what their students are being exposed to in the classroom, parents can find a lesson, which makes class transparent.

Flipping is a great technique for absent teachers:  flipped class helps to utilize the time when teacher is absent. Here in flipped class, lecture is recorded which helps to continue the class in the crises of qualified teacher.

Flipped classroom learning

Flipped classroom learning

The flipped classroom is a new method of teaching that is turning the traditional classroom its head. An aim of flipped classroom is to increase student’s engagement and learning by reading at home and work on live problem solving during class time. Flipped classroom learning develops independent learning skills which build deeper understanding of topic with improved engagement of students. This method may call student centered method. In old traditional method, lecture is delivered by teacher and students do their homework activities at home but in flipped classroom learning classroom activities are done after lecture delivery or simply we can say in traditional way student’s engagement is less and is in home only but in flipped classroom method student’s engagement is more and is in classroom.

Social media platform are making it possible classroom more interesting and is improving the ability to do work. Many educational institutions and educationalist utilize social media page as medium for student to give notices and to empower their student connection with their teacher/ principal/ authorized person via a Facebook. Social media make people socialized which help in learning that individual will self-initiate, regulate learning and behavior pattern (Social learning theory).

Social media is not only used as way of communication or platform to share ideas and lifestyle but is also using business platform. It creates job opportunity for technical people like media handling, vlog making, online selling, online teaching/ counseling. Even people like us who are unable to take regular classes are able to continue our study via a social medial. There is no doubt, social media have enormous advantage and we cannot deny today’s world without social media at the same time social media have lots of negative impact on young minds.  Social media cannot consider safe for all age group. Small kids comes to expose content which are not good for their age group psychology like double meaning content, violence video,  adult content etc.. At the same time too much use of social media creating anxiety, depression. People post adoring videos, good lifestyle etc. and whatever other people see on social media they believe it as real only other peoples are enjoying, they compare their boring life with other’s colorful life and became sad.
